The key to future advances
in micro sensors, micro catheters, and other microtechnologies
that are already close at hand is innovation
in the methods of manufacturing.

MEMS devices include the micro sensors that have made possible two-legged walking robots that move naturally and standing ride-on type mobility tools that can be controlled by changes in the rider's center of gravity. Even greater advances are expected from these devices in the future, but innovations in manufacturing methods will be necessary to achieve them. For this reason, much attention has been focused on 3-D micro photo-fabrication.
